A Fight Club Moment...

Looking through these new layouts that Blogger has added, I feel like I'm caught in the first couple chapters of Fight Club.

"Which blog layout defines me as a person?"

Not the same thing, I know (blogs aren't exactly material things). I'll try the rainy theme for a little bit and see if I like it. It's not very topic, but it's pretty. And sometimes that's the only thing that really counts.

For Real This Time

Well, I've realized that I don't have much of a platform on here, so I'm running through my head at the moment, trying to figure out what I'm really wanting to say here...

But first, going to go see the midnight premier of a blockbuster movie, from a blockbuster book: The Hunger Games!

Can't wait to see it.

Maybe I'll post a lil review.

Finally!

Last proof, guys, so the book is finally ready for someone to purchase. :)

I found an awesome picture that helps get the point of the novel across immensely, without being too melodramatic.  There were other options, but this one fit the best.

BTW, thanks to everyone who bought an e-book copy in the past month.  I don't know who you are, but you do. :)

Sleepy Days

You wouldn't think it, but Arizona can get pretty cold.

Sure, the days do eventually warm up to 70-some degrees, but it just doesn't feel as warm as 70 degrees should be.  Instead, I find myself hesitating to get out of bed, sleeping in to stay warm, and wearing nothing more than my new favorite ensemble: white sweatshirt and black sweatpants.  These are quite possibly the warmest things ever made.  EVER.

I love it.

What I don't love, is that I've had a temptation to have a bunch of sleepy days in a row.  I've taken to getting up at 5 o'clock in the morning.  Not quite used to that.  With any luck, I'll stop in the coming weeks, but I doubt it.

I can be quite stubborn when I want to be.

At any rate, I think I'm finally done with King Jeremy.  The edits were getting to wishy-washy, the type of thing you do when you keep thinking maybe I should be doing something else to it.  Sometimes, you just have to stop editing and just let it go.  Sort of like letting your kid go to kindergarten for the first time.  You prep him as much as you can, teach him not to hit other people, how to count and spell his name.  Then you walk him out to the bus stop and watch as he climbs the big yellow bus all by himself.

I'm about to get teary-eyed already. :)

I hope everyone had a fantastic New Year's, and now you guys are ready to get back to work.  I, for one, am so ready to keep writing.  It's weird at how I feel more like writing now that I've gotten this publishing thing up and going.  I hope this feeling stays with me.

TTFN!

Inaugural Post!

Greetings all!

So this is it.  I've dusted off an old blog of mine (okay, the profile...not the blog itself) and recreated another blog.

Let's hope this one sticks. :)

So I've been writing for God knows how long, and up until a few months ago, I haven't done much with them.  Sure, I'd write a book every year.  I'd keep countless ideas stored in phones that no longer work, random .doc files, and in my new iPod.  One of these days, I may actually sort and/or organize them.

I'm sorry, I had to step away from the keyboard and laugh for a little bit.  I don't really do organization.  It's the randomness of life and the things that keep me on my feet that really motivates me.  It is also a factor in my teaching, although I can't really admit to too much of that in public.  So, anyway...

My first novel, the first completed work of fiction that wasn't intended for a screen, was completed years ago (and I do mean years).  I decided that he should be the first one to be published.

First let me say that NaNoWriMo is a random and yet beautiful creature.  An unexpected post from there led me to a coupon code that allowed me to venture into CreateSpace.com and create a sample book.  It looked pretty good.  It felt right to hold the thing into my hands.  Now I flip through a second published draft and it still feels good and looks right.

Long story short, it will be available in various channels this year.  If you're really interested, I did the ebook stuff first.

You can get 50% of the novel for free and pay $5 to get the rest of it online.  Go here if you want to read about me: http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/kevinjohnson or here to link to my book page, where you can sample or purchase the book: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/7866

I'll hit you up with the published, physical copies and where you can purchase them in the next few days.

Have a wonderful New Year's Folks!
